Cove Wave Studio

Clay with a shoreline rhythm

Handbuilt and wheel-thrown ceramics in Daugavpils—cups, bowls, and wall pieces finished in quiet glazes. Workshops for adults who want process, not perfection contests.

Chapter I — Form

We throw and handbuild in cycles so wet work and trimming never fight for the same table. Students learn centering, then walls, then feet.

Chapter II — Fire

Kiln schedules are posted on the Firing page. Glaze results vary; that is clay telling the truth, not a defect to hide.

Chapter III — Keep

Finished pieces can be collected after emails go out. Shipping is limited; most work leaves by hand from Church Lane.

One idea: patience

Clay collapses when rushed. Our studio calendar builds drying time into every workshop fee.

One idea: use

We glaze for daily cups more than shelf trophies. Food-safe ranges are labelled at the shelf.

One idea: place

Daugavpils light is cool; glazes are chosen to hold warmth in the hand anyway.

Church Lane keeps Cove Wave Studio near enough to Daugavpils transit that students can arrive with damp clay under their nails and still catch a bus home. The room smells like wet earth after class—that is the point.

We alternate wheel weeks and handbuilding weeks so tools and drying racks stay organised. Glaze nights are separate, with brush rules that keep contamination low. Patience is not branding; it is physics.

Gallery shelves rotate after each firing. Pieces that survive cooling earn a place; pieces that crack become teachers. We talk about both outcomes in class so expectations stay adult and calm.
